At the core of ServerInsight is a data repository
designed to facilitate capture and reporting of snapshots of data captured during both static and
dynamic profiling of the target machines.
ServerInsight uses an agent-less technology to populate
its data repository from a myriad of information gleaned from Windows and UNIX machines. The "probe"
approach means that from a single workstation, users can perform the profiling task without requiring
any installation on the target.
This not only simplifies the task of data collection
but also ensures that the process of collection can be performed in a short span of time. Additionally
the ability to profile a machine remotely and without agent installs enables detection of configuration
tampering or misalignment in the event of an attack or malfunction.
